Realty Specialist

Duties described below are at the full performance GS-11 grade level.The Realty Specialist is responsible for completing lands and realty casework and making defensible recommendations on a wide variety of lands and realty actions including rights-of-ways, communication sites, land acquisitions & disposals, Recreation & Public Purposes actions, and other realty functions. Participates as an interdisciplinary team member in the preparation of other resource program activity plans. Interacts with the public, State and county agencies & others regarding realty matters on public lands. Provides expert advice and responds to inquiries regarding laws, regulations, agency policies involving the lands and realty program. Work Environment:
The environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The work environment varies from an office setting to working outside in isolated areas under adverse weather conditions. The employee usually works alone while in the field. Temperatures in the field vary from minus 10 degrees Fahrenheit to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Work in the office will generally be at a desk. The employee will adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribed in manuals/supplements or by the designated Safety Officer. Physical Demands:
The work is split between sedentary and physical. Because the employee may lead or often conduct on-site examinations, there is some walking, standing, bending, and requiring normal physical exertion. Onsite visits require physical ability to traverse remote rough country by cross country vehicle or by foot, sometimes in extreme climatic conditions to conduct field inspections. The field duties of this position require that the employee operate four-wheel drive vehicles on and off roads in isolated areas. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. For the GS-09 Level:
Completed a master s or equivalent graduate degree -OR- have 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related -OR- have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-7 level that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is further defined as:
serving as a trainee realty specialist, realty technician, land law examiner, or legal clerk on land actions or other public land use authorizations that provided experience with field exams, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process, requisitions & compliance -OR- have a combination of education and experience described above.For the GS-11 Level:
have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree -OR- have completed 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related -OR- have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-9 that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is further defines as:
Experience processing various types of land cases (i.e. public sales, rights/of/way, land exchanges, acquisitions, agricultural entries, land classification, withdrawals, leases, permits, recreation and public purpose leases/patents, airport leases/patents, State selections, trespasses, etc.), field examinations, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) processes and requirements, and compliance -OR- have a combination of education and experience described above.Please note:
Real estate work in the private sector is not considered qualified unless the experience demonstrates specific relationship to public lands and issues.You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
